| What was it about the young mares in this town that made them so fast?? Shifting Sands was brought to mind of the various lizards from his desert home, who ran just like that across the scorching ground. The scene that had led up to that speedy escape was also a bit exaggerated, it seemed, especially compared to what had happened at his shop. He'd assumed they were friends due to Claire's generosity, but a true would would surely be more interested in their companion's well being than damage to property. Property was easy to fix, hearts were another matter.
| But, what was done was done, and at least nobody looked hurt. Not even the jumpy little inventor, who again was quite cross. This time it wasn't even entirely about technology either. In the interim of waiting for the lackey-pony to return with the repair goods, Sands took the opportunity to speak to Claire.
"Good evening," he greeted, in that same Royal Canterlot tone as before. Hopefully Sugar was paying attention this time, and didn't get startled into the hole. He'd feel a bad about that. "Miss Claire, was it?"

"That's correct." Claire said, holding her head up. Claire had been so enraptured in the sparkling jewels the merchant had to offer that she had rushed off without stopping for more conversation. She felt a bit rude for that. If there was one type of pony in the world she appreciated, it was shopkeepers. How in the world would the planet survive without them?!
So, she took the opportunity. "Yes, my name is Claire Dupont. I apologize, Mister...But I haven't seemed to have gotten your name yet. I so rudely rushed off this morning without giving it a second thought." Claire smiled sheepishly at her actions. "Would it be too rude of me to ask your name now?"

Cherry just gave a quick pant when she reached a empty spot on the other side of the house by the window. She didn't think she'd run so fast but all she could think was to get out of there! Staring back at the crowd who easily wrapped back up into what they were doing as she just placed a hoof to her chest. Calming herself down from the short panic to look out the window. Nope, one of those fancy "show" windows that never actually opened. Grumpily placing her forehead against the glass in a small pout as she looked around to where the entrance was. It was still flooded by people just how many lingered at doors?
Mabye if she just stuck to her plan, hoped no more drills from the heavens came and stuck to the shadows she could weasle her way out when it got later. She just wasn't a party pony, not one bit.

| The merchant dipped his head politely. "Think nothing of it, miss Claire Dupont. I make a habit of sharing a love for my wares, and not often my name. No one pays for that, after all." He smiled, and after a moment seemed to remember what he was going to ask. Claire would get the unfortunate closeup of that wide-eyed, far away look he'd gotten earlier, and it seemed he was energetic as a young colt. "Miss Claire Dupont," he asked, unnecessarily using her full name every time, "I did wonder at something. Is she...here yet?" The vague question hung in the air and he waited expectantly, his restrained energy like a rubber band about to fly.

In spite of calling it quits, Low Key knew well that his diet was ruined. He'd make it up tomorrow, though, he'll just have to skip breakfast, which was easy enough for him. Now for the dreaded main event...socializing. Low looked around, but could see that everypony was with somepony else. Then, he chanced a glance to his side and saw a small silver mare standing off to the side. After taking the time to wipe his muzzle, he approached her. When he got within talking distance, he gave her a warm smile and said, "Hello, ma'am. Is something wrong?"

Claire stared blankly at Shifting Sands. 'She' was a very vague pronoun that the model was supposed to recognize. Must be very important to use such a pronoun as that...Hmm...Claire jumped. "Goodness! You can't possibly mean one of the Princeses, could you?" To think, The absolute epitomes of beauty and sophistication (save for Claire) attending a party in such a small city! It was unheard of. Claire herself had only met the Princesses a couple of times, seeing as how they were very busy what with the sun and the moon and other princessly duties. Besides, Claire would never throw such a rowdy party if a princess-Heaven forbid Celestia herself-was scheduled to show up.
"If you're looking for one of the Princesses, then you've unfortunately came to the wrong party. Even I'M not that important." Claire laughed. "But if that's the case, why do you ask? Do you need to see them for something?"

| It was rather pitiful how the elated Sands started to slowly wilt where he stood. That eager glint in his eye dying down and rubber-band effect gradually departing, his voice nonetheless still held a measure innocent hope, and a growing hint of that social self-consciousness rearing its head. He knew then he'd made a mistake.
"I...I see. I had just thought, the notices had said... And you, radiant like one of her heralds..." Ears slooowly falling back, it was apparent that the well-dressed stallion was full of doubt now and weighing his options.

Cherry just stood there at the window, resting her forehead against it as at least somewhat empty in the backyard. The sun finally down just about over the horizon as the sky glowed purple and orange. It was a pretty sight, one that would be much prettier if she was outside. Unaware of the blue pony showing up behind her as he asked if she was okay. At first taking it as a voice in her head due to the noise of the party as she sighed to mumble to herself. " Not even in the slightest..." Taking a few minutes to realize it wasn't her as she turned her head quickly to see a stallion staring at her with a smile as she quickly fumbled to turn around.
" Oh! No...No I'm fine...thank you....Sorry. " Simply leaning against the window now with her back as she looked to the side to calm herself down again. So much socializing that she hadn't done in so long was already getting to her.

Claire cocked her head. "Goodness..." She felt rather bad for breaking the news to Shifting. But, it was true, the Princesses just didn't show up to these kinds of parties. Plus, the whole radient herald comment had gotten her into a good mood. Nothing like a compliment. "...I just so happen to be naturally glowing." Claire had to throw in some self-worshiping statement, or else the whole thing wouldn't be very Claire-like.
"But, if you want to see the Princesses, why don't you just go to Canterlot? That's where I live." She added, as if it was of any importance whatsoever.

"NO! Don't you touch it! No! Get out! Take that wood away! GO AWAY!"
Meanwhile, whilst Claire was talking with Shifting, Sugar was aggressively defending her creation's hole in the floor, refusing to let the staff board up her only access to her drill. It wasn't going to happen. No way. Not a chance. This was now ground Zero, and they were never going to deny her drill to her.

Low Key cocked an eyebrow. He had been around mentally perturbed mares enough to know that something was definitely off about Cherry. He chuckles reassuringly and says, "It's quite alright, you can talk to me. I promise not to tell anyone."

| It took a moment for Sands to regain enough dignity to continue, though he still looked pretty pitiful. "I have...never been in that direction. The path I set out upon took me east to the sea, and then north," he explained unhappily. "And one does not simply 'meet' royalty, though I had...that is to say...." he lapsed into silence for a measure, proud posture bent with slumped shoulders, a hoof absently scraping the floor. He barely even registered the commotion by the drill's crash site, though it was surely gaining in volume by the second.

Then, there was a crash as Sugar slammed a hoof into the board one of the 'staff' were carrying, leaving it on the floor, and cowing the staff with a look from her fiery eyes.
"Get. Out." She snarled, glaring at him. He seemed frozen, torn between leaving her be, and not following his employer's orders.

She just looked still away when he chuckled at her. Simply biting at her lip a little in thought as she glanced between him and the side again. Looking at nothing in particular as she simply pushed a hoove back to push some hair from her face. " Er its...not a big deal just...not much of a party pony I suppose..."
Trying to make the problems seem so small just so that the stranger wouldn't pester and worry about it. Couldn't have her worrying other ponys could she? She could just take a glance around while she spoke, Still two tails now peeked under the table. The orange pony coudl be heard over the crowd just enough to know it still was a fiasco over there and at least it seemed only Pumpkin who she just noticed and the statue were in good company. " Are things..uh well going good for you? " Trying to make idle chatter to avoid having anyone pester her about earlier.

"Well, if you ever appear in Canterlot, why don't I-" Claire stopped short and turned her head to look at the growing volume of the disruptive happenings at the site of the drill hole. The employee looked a bit troubled and confused, and the loud pony was yelling at him for one reason or another.
"Do house guests act like this where you're from?" Claire rhetorically asked Shifting Sands. Without waiting for an answer, she took a long sigh. "I'm sorry. Our conversation must be cut short. Rest assured we will visit again shortly." She calmly walked to the site, standing next to her confused employee and another who had rushed to the scene for assistance.
"Miss." Claire addressed the orange pony. "There are two options in this scenario." Her voice was calm and smooth, like a mother talking to a child. "The hole is boarded up, and you are escorted out of my home. Or, the hole is boarded up, and you may stay." She continued on. "You are free to retrieve your drill contraption at a later date, before the hole that you created, that I must pay for with my own bits, is filled up with cement. But for now, the hole must be boarded in order to prevent injuries at my party. In my home." Claire stared directly at the orange mare. "As a hopefully respectful house guest, please make your decision."
