Low Key looks at to hoof, and then to his chest. It was certainly a strange request, and physical contact was never something that he treated lightly. Still, perhaps it was for the best; he had had very little reason to doubt her expertise so far, so he nodded, "You have my permission." As Midnight would place her hoof upon him, her mind would be flooded by images and words. A scene from a memory comes to the forefront - Low Key is sitting behind his bar and Claire is sitting on the other side. Several empty drinking glass sit next to her as she tells him about her childhood, how she was bred to be the best, a pony who could do no wrong. There are shadows coming off of her, dark energy from deep within her soul. Even Low seems to be aware of it. The scene flashes, and the mare is replaced by a filly, starving and unloved. Uninhibited by the alcohol, she bares all, including her tortured soul. Soon, the darkness encompasses Low, and a great sadness overcomes him. He begs her to allow him to help her, to fix her. He can't stand to see her push herself like this, he wanted to be the one to lay all her demons to rest and uncover the kind, loving mare that he knew lay trapped beneath. He was sure he could make it work, he knew he could make it work. He would give this mare all of his love if it meant that he could see her genuinely happy and satisfied with herself.

Touching against his chest she saw the images inside her head as well a far off tune being played. Her eyes closed as she sighed a bit. Her horn began to glow white as she was walking through his memory, watching it unfold and the darkness around Claire her hoof remained upon his chest as she spoke towards him "You have a kind heart but, you are foolish to think you could save her. The darkness I have seen it in her from before when I met her at my kingdom..and again days ago at a cafe she was exiting. It doesn't take my power to see the pain in her eyes hidden." she began to shed more light as she leaned forward touching the tip of her horn to his forehead to clear the darkness
"She will find her light but, it will not come from you. You want to fix her cause she is broken. That is not love nor is it wise." she began to chuckle a bit as she used more magic to clear the darkness from his mind "A pony should be loved for who she is...not because she is broken. The pony she will fall for will love her for her but, be her light guiding her to expose the darkness around her and defeat it."

As Low Key's mind was cleared of the darkness, he sighed and looked downcast. It looked like all of the life and energy had been sucked out of him as he realized just how foolish he had been. He never realized before just how impossible his goal was. He should have seen this coming, and yet he didn't.
He looks back up at midnight, his eyes glassy. In a soft, monotone voice he says, "Thank you for your service." He levitates out several more bits and places them on the cart, "That was all I wanted to ask."
He walks away, heading back home. He is unsure just how he should be feeling at the moment. He now understands what he needs to do to pursue his dreams, but at the same time, it feels like his greatest dream was crushed. Then he remembers what he must do, buck up and move on. There are plenty of other mares out there, and he was sure that one of them would be a better fit.

Feeling the other break away she watched him "You mustn't follow a path that will lead you to your sad depression." as she collected the bits with her magic "He will learn that the cards do not lie. His darkness will disappear and his life will be full of happiness the mare he deserves to be with is out there. However this Claire is not for him." she began to shake her head a bit as she pulled a box from her saddlebag and began to open it. Taking the purple cloth from it she wrapped her tarot cards up in it and placed them into the box alongside a necklace that was in there shutting the box she sighed some "Claire will one day find her happiness..I know she will however I cant tell when. I will not do a reading on a pony who wont give me their permission." she spoke softly as she stated to clean up a bit
"That stallion that left though had a nice flank. Sorta reminds me of Defiant's firm butt." she chuckled at that before sighing "Oh my have I become that kind of pony without my two stallions and others?"
