Aside from music, the only other thing Low Key could say that he loved to do in his spare time was read. In line with that, Fancy Prints was his favorite hangout, second only to the local music store. Of course, the obvious upside to the bookstore was that the noise level was kept 70 decibels lower. It was also a nice zen moment for him, simply wandering the aisles for something that spoke to him.
It was a habit of his on his days off of work to pay a visit, if just to revel in the quiet. As he did his best to quietly enter, he began making his way over to the non-fiction section. While he did enjoy most every genre, he enjoyed the feeling of getting something out of it. It was for that reason that he preferred the non-fiction section. As he entered that part of the bookstore, he began browsing. So many topics, and they all looked equally interesting.

Claire looked up from her book with a startled jump. "Oh!" After a moment, she saw that it was the blue pegasus she saw earlier. Assumedly, he was the owner of this bookstore. "Actually, it's...Um, It's not for any foals." As if! No foal was ever having Claire's attention. But, she had found what had connected her to this particular book. "My mother used to read this one to me when I was younger." She closed the book with one cream colored hoof. "It's familiar, is all." Memories flooded back to her from a long tome ago, memories that had been forgotten in the mix of cameras and signatures and outfits. Perhaps not good memories, but...they were hers, and that was important. She thought for a moment, and then looked up at the book keeper.
"If it isn't too much trouble, and if it doesn't seem that strange to you..." She began, hoisting the book into her air with a burst of magic from her horn. "Could I...buy this book?"

Books. Books everywhere. So much knowledge, so much potential.
Provided this little shop had the right kinds of books.
Sugar was in a bit of a dilemma. She'd lost her copy of 'Starswirl's theorem: Universal Relations' three days ago. Maybe. May have been longer? She wasn't sure, but she'd lost it and she needed it to check up on something she wasn't sure was right, which could be a problem considering she didn't have it anymore. And, of course, she was always on the lookout for more textbooks on both magical theory, practice, and mechanical engineering, few that they seemed to be. Thankfully, she didn't have any grease spots on her hooves. In fact, she'd taken a shower that morning specifically to come down here, to this shop, to search for her missing knowledge.
To her dismay, whilst she could find her way around a workshop with both eyes closed, lights off and her hooves cuffed without tripping on any scraps, she found finding her way around a well organized purchasable library almost impossible, winding up hopelessy sitting beside books of theology, one of them even speculating that Princess Celestia was, in fact, a goddess in flesh, here to judge ponykind on their sins.
She snorted and kept moving, albeit slowly and looking carefully at book covers.
Religion was stupid.

Low Key had spent a good amount of time in the non-fiction section, but nothing was speaking to him. As he came out at the end of the section, he looked about the book store, desperately searching for any genre that interested him. It was then that he felt a small mental tug. As he turned towards it, he saw the adventure sign hanging above that particular section. His mind made up, he made his way over towards it. There was bound to be something there worth checking out.

Fancy smiled to Claire, no teasing in his expression or voice. "Of course it is fine. Any book is a good book miss. I've actually kept every book I've ever gotten since I could learn how to read myself. I have a lot of them home. You should never let what others think of you stop you from doing what you want. Enjoy life." The blue stallion, shorter than Claire, offered his hoof in a friendly gesture. "It is nice to meet you. My name is Fancy Flights and I own the bookstore. May I know your name?" It seemed, despite Claire's fame, Fancy did not know who Claire was. In fact, it didn't even look like he was distracted by her pretty face. He was simply being a friendly pony to her.

"Is that soooo?" Here we go. Claire launched into her introductory performance as she has so many times before. She looked around for something to jump onto, but since there wasn't much of that, she just did a tiny leap in place. The show must go on!
"Gracing your presence just so happens to be..." Her high-pitched voice had gotten loud and boisterous, her cream colored hoof sweeping out in front of her as if she were presenting....herself. "International supermodel, starlet, public figure, the most recent Vuitton Miss July herself...Claire Dupont!" Her voice bounced quickly around the store before settling into silence again. Next, the mane flip. Can't forget the mane flip. She flicked her head and her mane bounced around her like waves in the ocean. A cotton candy ocean.
Her front hoof raised up, And she flashed a giant smile at the curious shopkeeper. "...Tada!"

Fancy didn't seemed wowed very much. In fact, he had never heard of Claire. So he tried to make his response the least amount of awkward. "Oh, well that all sounds very... impressive? Sorry, I've just never heard of you... not that you aren't famous! I'm sure you are a great model and I'm sure everyone thinks you look very pretty. Anyway... Perhaps I should leave you to look for more books to buy... unless that is all you are getting. I can ring it up at the front and take your bits there. Is there anything else I can help you with Miss Dupont?"

Claire huffed, stomping a hoof on the ground. "Well, I AM naught but a rising star in the sea of celebrity life! It is common to be unaware of myself, especially in such an unimpressive city." Another hoof gesture. Those seemed to be popular with Claire. "I only got into the business a few years ago, and..." On and on she jabbered, her voice noisy and obnoxious. Claire could talk for years about herself, especially when no one asked.
"And you're correct that I'm a great model. No, I am the BEST model!" She was shouting now, but not angrily. It was more in self-triumph. Her head leaned back and she looked upwards. "You should feel very lucky to communicate with a figure like myself. My manager says I'll be more famous than Sapphire Shores in a year." Her eyes closed haughtily, followed by another signature mane flip. At this rate, she was going to knock the books off of the shelves with her titanic rose curls.
"Now, now. I'm much too busy for checkout." Reaching into her swollen pink saddlebag, she procured a ball of bits from her saddlebag and dumped them onto the floor by the foot of the shop keeper. "Consider the rest a donation. Being the figure that I am, I love charity. Nothing better than giving back." She whipped herself around towards the door, her new book half-stuffed into her saddlebag. This action was successful in knocking a light book from the shelf and plopping it onto the floor. "Aren't I wonderful? Anywho, ta-ta for now, sweets. Stay beautiful!" And with that, she performed her trademark high-hoofed trot through the library and out the door.

Most would have been taken aback at Claire's display, even having a word or two to say in response to the flamboyant and over the top hoof gestures and mane flips. But, Fancy wasn't most. He simply turned the other cheek figuratively and put the knocked down book back up. Once it was neatly put away, Fancy gathered and counted out the bits, subtracting the cost of the foal book Claire had gotten from the total. "Hmm... well I could put the extra toward books the next customers get. It wouldn't be right to just take the money, but the 'charity' could be a nice discount for the next buyer. Quite a generous amount too!"
Money in hoof, Fancy's first stop was obviously the til in which he deposited the bits. He then wrote down the extra amount on a slip of paper. Each time he took from the amount, Fancy would subtract and write down the remaining bits on the paper until it was used up. That settled, Fancy decided to check on the customers once again. He liked interacting with customers. He felt that personal touch made everypony want to keep coming back. Speaking of repeat customers, he foray into the adventure section brought him in view of Low Key. He smiled and made his way over. "Low Key, its nice to see you again! Had any luck getting hired to play?"

Low Key heard his name and snapped out of his thoughts and turned to Fancy. Giving him a courteous smile, he responds with, "Good day to you as well, Fancy! Not really, still looking for a band." It was hard to say whether or not Low was actually working at finding a group instead of just sitting around and waiting for fate to come to him. He had seen a few "Wanted" posters up in the bar, but he simply wasn't sure if he was good enough material. He played every day, sure, but there was always someone better. He had learned that quite early on.

Walking into the bookstore with a calm smile, Dixie stopped by the entrance and looked around. She stood there for a moment to take inn the sight and realized that she hadn't been in this shop before, she didn't have a need for a book before now and was on the look for something special. She started to walk towards the rows of books and didn't notice that she was walking more quietly than she used to, it was a habit for her to walk carefully in libraries or book shops since she had been yelled at before for trotting around and making great noise. The books all looked so exiting just from the cover, she didn't know what to pick or where to start. Stopping for a moment, she was standing in front of some books about Equestria history, but it didn't interest her so she kept looking around in that area with a unpleased expression on her face.

Fancy smirked at Low Key. "Well shouldn't be too long. Soon you'll be bigger than Sapphire Shores and you'll need a stick to beat off the fans!" Fancy didn't sound like he was joking, he actually sounded like he believed in Low Key. "By the way, I heard that a certain cello playing earth pony you are a fan of is playing in Baltimare. You might want to check out the newspapers for the date. I was actually skimming the paper for something to jump out at me, so I am afraid I don't know too much. But I thought you'd be interested to hear about the upcoming performance."

Low Key laughed, "You flatter me, Fancy. If you find a band that needs a bassist, send them my way, ok?"
Wait, did he just mention...Octavia? Low Key had talked to Fancy about her a while back, but he didn't remember telling him that he had a crush on her. He must have accidentally let that slip. Damn. In any case, it was true - he had a thing for classy mares that played instruments. He had gone to one of her concerts in Manehattan and was absolutely blown away by her professionalism and grace. He wanted to meet her after the show, but he didn't want to completely gush over her and risk creeping her out.
"I'll look into it. Thanks." He looks back over to the fantasy section when an idea pops up, "You didn't happen to get the new Game of Pones book, did you?"
(( That pun is terrible and I feel terrible ))

To be perfectly honest, Fancy only thought Low was a big fan of Octavia's performance. His crush, really any romantic signs, flew so over his head that they were in danger of colliding with the sun at high noon. It just goes to show that no matter how smart and well read you are, book smarts can only get you so far in life. In any case, Fancy's expression lit up at the mention of the new book. "Oh yes! Right in the morning of the release day. I put a special order in and bought one to read immediately. I just can't..." Fancy paused, taking a deep breath. "Woo, I almost let out some spoilers there. Anyway, you should totally read it. I've already gone through it once and I'm thinking of reading it again already!"
There were several ponies in the book store now and Fancy felt it was time to man the front. "I will leave you to look around Low Key, I should get to the til in case somepony is ready to buy!" With that , Fancy lifted off with his wings and flew over to behind his counter. He sat and waited for somepony to come up.

Dixie dragged her eyes from the books and trotted over to the counter to Fancy Flight with a calm smile. "Excuse me, do you have any books about the early history of Equestria?" She asked, she had been looking for it for several minutes but couldn't find anything that fit her taste. She had been wanting to read some history books for quite some time as she felt like she had to know, she started having a regular customer that liked history and though it would be easier for him to talk to her when he had some interest to share. She looked at Fancy with a smile, hoping he had the right book for her.
