The craving for sweets struck her hard this morning, galloping a little through the early mornings of town before the ponies began to gather out in the street. She usually was a early riser, already donned in her typical hat and satchel slung over her back filled only with her book of lessons she was preparing for the winter seasons ahead. If only summer and fall could pass sooner! Walking down the main street as she looked between shops. Her eyes focused on one goal as she stopped slightly finding her destination, a coffee shop called " Cafe au Lait ". She could remember when it first was built being one of the first few to visit the new cafe and growing soon attached to the warm atmosphere it gave away. Reminding her of a fall season with the colors and constant smell of baked goods and pumpkin.
A place she had at least visited a few times a week for its Hot chocolate, walking over to it as she took a gaze inside through the glass door. Peering in to the familiar shop to spot only a few ponies that beat her to the morning rush. Pushing the door slightly open as the bell lightly chimed giving away her arrival. She kept her distance though, being patient of the ponies ahead of her as she took notice of Pumpkins full attention on the line. Giving a small shrug in waiting for her turn to order her usual as she placed her satchel with a small thud ontop of one of the tables as she perched herself up on the stool. Pulling out one of her books and quill as she looked it over. She came her when she needed to think, and not have Pivote slobber all over her work. Finding it quiet and relaxing as she moved her quill along the paper drawing out a sloppy sketch of moves to teach for each level of students.

Hearing the bell chime as another pony left delighted with their coffee, now to lost in her own work to even remember to go up to the counter. Scribbling quickly as she made a small swirl only to almost trail off the paper when heard someone say her name. Darting her head up as her mess of mane had to be pushed aside as she took notice that she had been the only one left without a order. Stuttering a moment as she tried to calm herself down a little, " A-Ah yeah! Yeah that'd be great...thanks Pumpkin...ah sorry..bout that got lost in my work again it seems. " Setting her quill down as she pushed herself off her chair to walk slowly up to the counter. Taking in the treats as she settled on which to add to the hot chocolate.
" It must be busier with all these new ponies huh...? I...mean...theres a lot coming I wonder what for? " Making small talk with the few locals she would actually talk to in town. She already cleared out Pumpkin from her suspect list of those who could've taken Sugar Wish.

It wasn't Pumpkins fault, the mare was easily startled these days. Paranoia did that to you. Looking briefly at her cocoa as a gleam of delight struck her face for just a moment at the sight of it. Cocoa always was one of those things to bring that old spirit back to her as she dug into her satchel pulling out a few bits. " Thank you, may I have one of those banana nut breads to...? " Placing the bits on the table as she picked up her coffee the best she could with one hoove walking it carefully over to her table and setting it down. It was a bit difficult with no magic, a thing she envied unicorns having. They made things look much easier than it should! Turning back to walk back over to recieve her bread. Taking a moment to ponder as pumpkin shrugged. " Must be....Just a odd place to come to, don't you think...? "
More so pondering to herself than meaning to pester Pumpkin. Though it was rare she even found conversations outside her usual few visits with Pumpkin being one of them. They weren't close no, in fact she didn't know much about her outside of the shop. Odd seeming as how both grew up in the area. " No thanks...just the bread I think..." Sighing slightly to take the bread. More mysterys were just coming up, none of which she could solve as she took the bread to her table. Setting it delicatly next to her cocoa as she blew lightly on it to be sure it wasn't going to burn her insides. A content sigh and small sound much like a mmm escaped her before turning back to scribbling on her papers. Trying to fix the mess of ink into something manageable.

She watched Cherry carefully lift and transport the cup of cocoa. She smiled a bit internally, enjoying the care with which ponies without magic must do certain things. It was something she understood quite well, in her line of work. Without the aid of levitation, extra care must be taken with unwieldy hooves. Pumpkin nodded to the pegasus and snagged a banana bread out of the case, sliding it into a little baggy. She shrugged again, " I suppose so," though it might be the biggest town in the area making it a prime location for refueling on journeys between the two neighboring metropolises.
She didn't want to make waves though, so she left her comment at that. She watched the somewhat deflated looking mare return to her table, "Well, enjoy!" she tried to sound cheerful but it came out sounding more strained than she'd meant it to. She immediately bit her cheek and scolded herself for breaking the cheerfulness that ponies expected from her.

She almost felt like she'd drop every cup she picked up from this place, despite being their enough times to know how to do it she still was clumsy. And could remember a few times she had to apologize for pumpkin for spilling on the floor. Refusing Pumpkins help to clean it up as she took to cleaning up her own messes. She wouldn't let other ponys do her work for her like that. Coming back though she took the baggy in her mouth holding it tightly as she could only nod to the shrug given to her. Mouth full as she went back to her table, taking note of the attempt of cheerfulness glancing back at Pumpkin curiously for the odd break of it.
Usually she didn't want to pry, if ponys didn't pry with her she didn't pry with them. But with someone who was usually so cheerful unlike herself it was odd seeing Pumpkin break that. Placing the bag on her table as she opened it up to pull it out. " ....Are things okay here? I mean...I'm sure they are...just curious. " Unuse to the conversation staring on her own terms as she took a glance at pumpkin between scribbles.

Pumpkin was a bit caught of guard by Cherry's concerned tone, enough so that a tiny bit of surprised slipped past her normal cheerful and friendly visage. She was showing emotions left and right today, she certainly had to get herself under control. She hadn't expected such a personal question from Cherry, not that she was an impersonal mare but simply because the two had never really spoken outside of Cherry's frequent visits for hot chocolate.
She regained her composure, "Here? Oh yes, business is booming. All these busy ponies need their caffeine after all," she punctuated her sentence with a smile. And it was true, with all the money she was raking in she might be able to move out of the attic afterall. As an afterthought she added, "Thank you, Cherry." She truly appreciated the concern for her well being, and didn't have the heart to tell Cherry that the worry was misplaced and Pumpkin had been worried about her when her smile faltered.

It must've been to odd for Cherry to ask, which didn't suprise her personally a bit. Taking note of the brief suprise on Pumpkins face as she gave a small tilt of the head. Worried she pushed already to far into Pumpkins life by just simply asking as she gave a sip of her cocoa to avoid a akward silence.
Not expecting a answer, but suprised to get one as she looked back at Pumpkin. Well it made sense, she must've just been overwhelmed by the new amount of ponies. That seem to grew every day. " Ah well that makes sense...guess just getting use to the new crowds? " Nervously now wishing she didn't say anything. It didn't even seem a serious problem that matched that look on Pumpkins face. Or perhaps she didn't wanna tell cherry? That made sense to. Her mind buzzing a bit, she blamed the mystery novels shes been reading to start making her curious. Though taken a bit aback when she recieved a thank you from Pumpkin. Looking over at her suprised as she couldn't help give a tiny rare smile. " No problem...just...wasn't use to you not smiling for a moment. " Akwardly going back to her work as another few ponies came in to order.

Pumpkin felt guilty for having made her uncomfortable. She nodded at the suggestion. Though the money was certainly welcomed, it was a bit difficult to adjust to the sudden influx of strangers making their way though her shop, her home. She couldn't help but smile a bit at the fact that Cherry had even bothered to ask. The mare had a reputation of being cold and uncaring, but Pumpkin didn't agree with that. Cherry was not like that by nature. She tried to remember what she'd been like before the accident. She vaguely remembered her bringing in her daughter for treats, though the shop had only just opened at that point.
The bell shocked her back into the present and she smoothly transitioned back into taking and making orders, sparing one final glance over at Cherry who had gone back to her sketching. Though the moment had been brief, she was grateful that Cherry had come out of her shell a bit, maybe the mare could heal, a little, overtime. Pumpkin found comfort in that thought and kept it close in her mind as she went back to her own chores. The mugs weren't going to wash themselves. (We can end the thread here if you'd like, unless you have more to add!)
