Damascus Rose sat in the sand of the beach, letting the salty waters wash off his armor. His sword was stuck into the wet clumps of sand, sticking straight upright and reflecting the bits of sun that were available in the cloudy sky. Taking a deep breath, he groaned, and looked downward. "I had to pick today to sit and reflect." It was part of his routine to go out once a week and sunbathe, and think about life. His doctor said it'd be good for him and his mental health. Little did the doctor know, that Damascus would always wear his armor when doing so.
Despite the annoyance of the dayball, he stayed there, hoping something would come by to allow him to get out of this routine.

Cherry visited the beach more than she let on, she didn't like the summer of course. It was much to hot for her. But during those late fall evenings and winter days she found comfort in the cold sea. Today though she just needed to get out, memories resurfacing that she didn't want to bother her as she trotted down the hillside towards the beach. Feeling the warm sand greet her as she took her first step into the sand. Taking a small moment to dig her hoof lightly in it as she moved fully onto it. Kicking up small bits of sand as she walked along the long beach.
Feeling that calm loneliness the beach granted her as the sun peaked lightly between the bits of clouds. It was one of the main reasons she went out here, no sun to feel like she was going to die of sunburn on her back. It took a bit suprise from her when she spotted something black and metal on the beach. it looked like a statue at first. Curiousity getting to her to easily as she took a cautious step over. Pausing her steps as she notied the large sword sticking upright in the sand. Distracted b ythe shine of it to pay much mind to the stallion sitting in the sand.

Damascus had finally heard a small sound in the distance, a small step into the soft white beach. His ear flicked towards it, and he slowly turned his head. In the far reaches of his visor, he could make out the smallish mare, with her soft white fur, and peppermint hair. The sun was now out of his eyes, helping his mood greatly, and he may even act friendly to this interloper. Provided she acts the same way.
A thin black film covered the visors from behind the helmet, completely obscuring his eyes. If he doesn't speak, he looks incredibly feminine, despite the heavy black armor covering him. He was desperately hoping this mare didn't assume he was female, otherwise she'd be in for a big surprise.
He stood up on all fours, the chainmail rattling against the hot plates, and reflected a beam of light at Cherry's hooves. As a just-in-case measure, he took his sword in horn, and began walking towards the mare off in the distance. He said not a word, as he was focused on determining if she was a threat, or just a mere average mare.

Cherry had to take a step back when she saw him get up. Oh god the statue was moving! Steadying herself still as she put her wings up to gaurd herself a little as he cantered over towards her. He was much bigger than she was, easily a good almost 2ft taller. Making him even more intimidating as he stood infront of her.
Taking note to examine him carefully before glancin sideways at the sword again. The shine still a bit distracting, it wasn't to often she saw one up close. Only with the small trinket swords at her shop. She remained calm on the outside though despite her wings in place as she gave a look back up to him. " ....Er...Hello Statue...? "

He stopped in his tracks, and shoved the sword back into the ground after a few minutes of silently staring at the mare. From under the thick helmet, a deep, yet hearty laugh could be heard. The rest of his body didn't move much, but his head rolled back, and then shook as he lowered it. "Hello, small one." He said, still laughing pretty hard. Not very often he gets called a statue, usually he just gets called that creep who sits on the beach and stares at fillies. Even though clearly his face is being seared by the sun.
He bowed to her, leisurely, and smiled from under his mask. Not like she could see that though. "What brings you out to the ocean this annoyingly bright day?" Damascus' voice was deep, with a tone of slight aging, and he spoke in such a way that felt warm, but at the same time unwelcoming. At the very end of his sentences, he'd leave the last letter of it dragging on, by just a smidge.

Cherry didn't want to admit she jumped a little when the sword was shoved into the sand...but she did. A flash of emotion striking her eyes causing them to break from their usual blandness to that of a big eye doe. Staring up as the statue began to laugh, it was deep yet hearty. Unsure why the statue even laughed as his head rolled with his laughter, before giving her a hello. Still chuckling as she couldn't help tilt her head slightly at the sight. The idea of it being just a stallion in armor escaping her. Why did everyone point out how small she was though? Cursing her height slightly as she gave a tiny nod to his bow. " Hello....I thought it would be cloudly today honestly..." Giving a small glare up to the sun, clearly showing she wasn't to fond of the heat it gave.
" ....I'm just here to think...I like to walk here time to time...though I've yet to meet a statue during it. Do statues normally sit here? " She felt oddly welcomed by the deep voice, perhaps because her own tone often seemed unwelcoming too. Matching that tone though more clear as she looked around for a moment. Being sure that no other statues decided to reside on the beach.

"No, small one, typically no statues reside here. I doubt they ever have. Doubt that's ever changed at all, in fact." He said to her, hinting that he was not a statue. Noticing her eyeing his sword, he yanked it out of the ground again, and held it flat in front of her. The sword was made of pure geisteel, a very rare, ornate type of imbued steel. It's incredibly rare, so much that weapons made of it are rarely used for combat.
The blade had a large garnet jewel in the center, going through to the other side, forming a small red circle in the sand, where the sun shone through it. Damascus had commissioned a professional blacksmith back in the day to make it, and through those fifty years he's kept it spick and span. It's kept its shine for that entire time, only showing off a few bloodstains from past battles on the edge.
He held it in front of her, blade side facing her, on accident.

It took her a bit to finally get that hint, giving the statue of a man a odd look before feeling a bit embarrassed she thought so. Darn and she thought she could sell him in her shop too. Taking notice as he yanked out the sword from the round again holding it infront of her. The sword was beautiful, taking note of the ornate looking steel and jewel inside it. Curious if it was for show or for action, her own curiousity answereing her as she saw the few bloodstains through the shine and that well...that blade was pointing at her.
Her face a little growing paler than it already was as she gave him a slight distressed look between the blade and him. Taking just a step back to give some distance incase he attacked as she stood carefully intwining her legs slightly nervous. " I see....I should've known better than talking statues huh....um...nice blade.." Trying to keep her manners in check with a blade pointing at her.

"Yep, been my go-to blade for years now.. Seen its fair share of action. I used to be a, uh, changeling guard, I suppose. Had to keep ponies out, y'know?" He brought the blade slightly closer, and lowered it to neck level. "Don't tell anyone about that little bit, though. Don't wanna ruin my reputation just yet."
As he said this, the wind blew his horsehair lead from his helmet into his face. He made an irritated noise as he tried to blow it away, but, as he was wearing his helmet, that task was much harder than normal to complete. In a frustrated outburst, he yanked his helmet off, revealing his scarred, bearded face, along with his long and straight crimson hair. His hair was still in his face, however, much to his chagrin.
"Feck."

He must've been to absorbed talking about it to realize he held it in a way threatening her. Trying to not mind it as she took just one more step back away from the blade to be sure she was safe. A bit surprised that he was a changeling guard. The look of surprise must've been apparent when he told her to not tell anyone as he brought it closer at neck level. Giving a quick nod. " Its alright...I'm not sure how many would listen to me anyways if I did...I don't have the best reputation around here. " Going almost to a whisper on the last phrase as she stood more straight when he seemed irritated.
Tilting her head a little as he suddenly had burst of frustration almost causing Cherry to jump outta her skin when he yanked his head off to well...reveal another head. Letting it sink in as she took note of the scars and beard. He was older than her, at least a good 10yrs. His hair all over his face as it seemed to be his frustration. Deciding to help just a little with a flap of her wings blowing his hair back in a little burst. " There we go..."

The burst of wind blew his hair back momentarily, and then it flopped back into his eyes, eliciting a growl from the stallion. He gave up, just letting his hair reside where it liked, and then it clicked in to him. "You don't have the best reputation around here? What happened? Maybe, I could be of some service, ma'am." He said that with a both lighthearted, and evil grin.

Well that didn't do much at all did it, a little huffed her little wind blast didn't work as she settled her wings back down. Only a slight growl coming from him before he inquired about why she wasn't as repitable. Simply sitting herself in the sand as she brushed back her mane a little. " I'm not sure thats such a good idea, I don't need a worse one....but thank you. " Keeping down to a hushed tone as she looked out at the ocean. " Just some very horrible things is all....not much of a good first conversation now is it...." Taking note of the evil grin he had despite the more brightened look.

"Hmph. Implying I'd make it worse. I'd just be all, what do you call it uh.. Diplomatic, in a way. I'd talk them into not hating you." He sat beside her. "But really.. What happened?"

Cherry actually chuckled at that, " I see...sorry for implying that...just bad experiances is all. Its hard to fix thing you can't easily fix..." Frowning again as she sat now with a small thump just facing the sea to let the breeze calm things. Closing her eyes for a brief moment before opening them. " ...It really isn't nothing at this point...just trying to find clues about something that happened in town a few years ago..." Seeming uneasy talking about it as she gave him a side glance. " I made a huge fuss and blamed a lot of ponies, especially the law. So as you can imagine a year of doing that hasn't made me any new friends for a while. " Dodging it best she could as she gave him a curious glance. " Did you come to the beach to ponder too though? You seemed to be when you were a statue staring out to the sea...? " Pushing the topic a bit away from her as she tried to turn it towards him.

"I.. I was, yes. I'm in a different boat than you are, though, it's more.. Introspection on my part." He shifted a bit in the sands, and turned himself to face her. His eyes seemed a little glazed, but, behind them you could almost just make out an amount of pain, or regret. Before she would have even the chance, he turned again to face the sea, and sighed.
He looked up at his sword, to relax himself, but not much solace comes from the very object which causes your guilt in the first place.
