Sugar's ears twitched, but other than this, she didn't really react. She was listening though.

A confused look rolled across Zeila's face listening the stallion talk about some really primative and old style of powering a town. As she was about to tell him how odd that seemed to be it was then she realized that he was talking a bit louder then she noticed him winking at her and she started to catch on. "Oh yes we can't have them burning themselves or the whole town just trying to light their pathways." She started to go along with his little farce making her voice a bit louder so she was sounding like she was more boasting then yelling.
"Oh my we could even do away with all those glass containers and such I mean what is wrong with a old fashioned wooden bowl, and think of all the ponies we could save from being cut or injured by those advancements the world would such a better place don't you think?" She says towards the stallion hoping their words would pull the mare inventor out of her slump.

Sugar Sweet hated Zeila in that moment. And she hated Shifting Sands as well. She didn't even know their names. They probably knew hers. Everypony in town knew hers. Knew to stay away from her.
Sugar Sweet. The mad scientist
"Maybe..." She mumbled to herself, looking at her crazy lightning battery again. Tame lightning? Maybe it was an absurd idea. Maybe it was much too dangerous. Simply teaching ponies how to handle and maintain it would probably take weeks, if not longer. It wasn't a simple piece of technology by any means. It held all of her hopes, which hadn't been bolstered at all. Test hadn't even started yet, and it was looking grim. Even if it did work, who would actually buy it from her? Upon hearing the potential hazards? Probably nopony. And getting an audience with either princesses of Canterlot was doomed to failure, given the sheer time it took for an appointment to be reached. Some ponies were on the calendar set for three months away!
Or, so she'd heard.
"Maybe it is too dangerous to start out big like this," She said forlornly, "I mean... come on, tame lightning? Maybe I'm just... not as smart as I thought."
