Sugar paused, then blinked and looked back at the odd Zebra, a twinkle in her eyes.
"You're interested in my work?" She asked curiously, almost excitedly, "You actually want to know about the things I do? And make?"
This was an event! Somepony- er... Zebra... Who was interested in her mechanical and magical theories and practices? Perhaps somep-Zebra to talk to about them? Would he understand what she was explaining? Perhaps he would. Maybe, if she was lucky, she could make some money. Maybe He could help her understand what everypony else needed? Maybe he's just interested in learning?
"I can't afford to pay an apprentice, if that's what you're looking for," She said, turning herself fully to face him and sitting down, "But I can tell you about it! Or show you. I mean, you've already seen one prototype, right?"

Saline nods, a very curious look upon his face, "I am very interested in your experiments, not being interested would make me lament! Please, show me your tools and buildings of trade, and maybe I'll offer you potions in a trade?" He looks to the odd saddle, then to her, the excitement killing him.

Sugar hesitated, thinking about that for a moment before she opened her mouth... and closed it again.
"I... don't know what I would do with potions," She replied honestly, "What potions can you create?"

"Oh, a myriad of them, from curing bum legs to too much phlegm!" He says, "I could also transmute some metals to others, though, I think you'd have plenty use for it, and for other misses and sirs!" He takes out one, and hooves it over, "Metal's Meddling," it's labeled.

In the past few months that Low Key had lived in this town, he had come to know the main road like the back of his hand. Today was "book day", so he was walking with a new book hovering in his magic aura. As he passed a bend, he came across a curious site, a zebra!
During his life in Manehattan, he had only really seen a handful of zebras growing up. What he was doing here was something that piqued Low's interest as he approached. Shifting the fabric of his red turtleneck and straightening out his leather jacket, he walks up to the zebra and waits for the attention to shift to him before he asks, "Excuse me, do you need any help?"

Saline looks to the pony, blinking, "Ah, hello there to you! I am alright, though, from all my travels, I'd love a horseshoe." He chuckles. "I do see you are a traveler as well, if I can tell." He extends a hoof, "Saline base, good to see you and your face!" He smiles, having obviously seen many ponies in his lifetime.

Low Key reaches out with his own hoof and shakes Saline's, his grip moderately tight, "I don't know what you mean by traveller. I'm not from around here if that's what you mean. I come from up north, Manehattan.
"I don't mean to be rude, but we don't normally see zebras around these parts. Where are you from?" His eyes have trouble keeping contact with Saline's, as if he is nervous of saying something wrong. It wasn't everyday that he got to talk to someone as foreign as a zebra, and he was deathly afraid of committing a cultural faux pas.

He chuckles, expecting the eventual question, "Ah, the lands of us zebras and other non-ponies, from griffons to changelings, or as they're called, pony phonies." He stretches a bit, "But,since you are from Equestria and around...Why do so many unicorns dislike zebras to the point of being confound? Some cities were rather cruel, and treated me as a fool."

Low Key put a hoof to the back of his head, feeling put rather on the spot by the question, "Well, um, I wouldn't know how to answer that. My parents always raised me to have a respect for everypony's character, so I can't say I know why unicorns hate zebras. If you're talking about Canterlot, though, I guess the hatred stems from them feeling that zebras are second-class citizens, but I don't think about you that way at all!" Low Key exclaimed the last clause of that sentence as if he was trying to run damage control. He was very nervous by now with the combined stress of meeting somepony new and attempting not to come off as offensive.

Sugar Sweet was paying absolutely no attention to the conversation between two stallions. Instead, she was looking very intently at the alchemical potion that, allegedly, changed the molecular structure of one metal and turned it into another. A fascinating and possibly very useful boon to her work, if it did as was said.
She'd have to spend a lot less on metals, that was certain.

Saline looks back to Sugar, promptly apologizing, "I'm sorry for leaving you off like this, yet I could not have left unspoken, lest I be amiss." He gives her the potion, "Now, I'll say what you can apply it to and how. Once I get to see your work, and possibly ask you later for a job as a clerk." He looks to the other stallion, "And do not worry about coming off as mean, I can tell you your work on not offending me is more than lean."

Low Key audibly loosens up as it becomes clear that he has made a good first impression, "Okay, good. I don't get to talk to foreigners all that much, and I didn't want to end up coming off as an idiot." He then looks behind the zebra to the cart that he is pulling, "If I can ask, what's in the cart?"

He takes off the tarp, revealing many plant specimens in jars, lots of ornate bottles, and a few other jars filled with unknown liquids and powders, "It is my ingredient cart, as I've been proven to be herbal and potion smart." He points to his cutie mark, which is a large black leaf.

Low Key looks over the jars of chemicals, not entirely sure what he is looking at but interested nonetheless. He looks back up at Saline and asks, "Could you give me more of a tour? I'm not sure if there may be anything I need in here."

Saline shakes his head, "That was what I was asking this mare for, though I did not hear her name, or much about her to the core." He shrugs, and covers the tarp back over the cart, looking to Sweet. He stretches a bit, tired from all his travels.
