Once again, Sugar didn't answer. Instead, she was rooting around in her mane, and did so for quite some time. The windswept hair seemed to have no semblance of order, and indeed it did not, but a moment later she pulled something small, and a little shiny, out of it. It was a small tracking beacon. She stuck one on all of her inventions, and kept one held to her scalp via a clip at all times, just in case. She had the receiver at home, hooked up to a type of radio locator. It worked, really. And it was made almost entirely of metal.
"No risk, no reward," She muttered to herself and, very carefully, dripped a drop of the fascinating potion onto the device.
Now it should be said it had multiple metals on it. The outer case, which was waterproof, had two. The outside was a thin layer of copper, which was cheap and didn't rust, and inlaid in iron coated with zinc was a small 'SS', to prove ownership as it were. It was an old favorite of hers that she managed to make off of blueprints from old military tech, no longer secret.

Low Key looks slightly disappointed as he realizes that he is in a queue. He looks over at Sugar and recognizes her as the crazy mare from the other night at his bar. He rolls his eyes as he remembers how she had come crashing through the establishment asking for "ethanol" and lots of it.
What she was doing at the moment, though, was rather curious. He watched her place a drop of one of Saline's potions onto the small device, and arched an eyebrow as he waited for her next reaction.

The tracking beacon shivers in the potion, its surface turning a dank brown, then to a pristine silver, the inner zinc forming into electrum, with a brilliant gold hue. Overall, it almost makes it entirely useless, but does make it worth more. The iron seems to be a dull gray from the transformation.
Saline watches the transformation occur, interested. "My work does do well, what it turns into, I cannot tell..."

"alchemy's never been a precise art," Sugar muttered in reply, capping the bottle again and picking up the device, "Curious..."
She held the device up to the light and squinted at it, slowly determining the reaction.
"It's turned the zinc into an alloy?" She mumbled to herself, "Electrum, quite good, considering it's resistance to oxidisation. Iron appears unchanged however..."
Mentally, she was jotting down all of this information to make sure she didn't forget it anytime soon. This could still potentially be useful.

Saline looks to Sugar, "I wish I knew more about such metallic things, but other than the ones used in recipes, they are simply something akin to what some ponies call...bling." He shrugs, he looks to Low Key, looking to him to see his own reaction.

Low Key was simply standing there trying to figure out what was going on. Nothing coming out of the mare's mouth made any sense and he was left scratching his head, "Um, excuse me, but what?"

"Zinc!" She said a little louder, "This potion has remade the metal zinc upon this transmitter into Electrum, which is an alloy."
She hid the clip away in her mane again, thinking hard.
"It's an alloy of gold, silver, copper, and trace other metals as well. It's curious, because I don't think this potion is stable enough to safely be used, or even if it'll be useful. Electrum is actually too soft to hold a charge strong enough to power anything, and it can't be used for anything heavy duty so..."

"Well, the potion is rather used as a slot machine of sorts, sometimes turned into unknown minerals, and its cohorts." He shrugs, looking at it, he puts in a nail, and watches it shudder, and it shatters through the bottom of the bottle, and through the ground...
Saline looks rather horrified, "I hope there is no repercussion from that...Maybe I merely killed the curious cat."

Low did his best to wrack his brain for something that could put everything together, "Is that transmutation? I've heard of it, but never seen it done before." A thought occurs to him, and he turns to the zebra, "You sell chemicals? Would you happen to have any wood polish?"

Saline looks to him, dropping the now useless glass, his ears perk at his interest, "Wood polish to sell?...I do know I can make some, if you have some fish oil, do tell." He rummages in the back of his cart, looking for such a specific chemical. After a bit, he pulls out of the tarp's shadow, and with it, a large, ornate, glass vase. It's filled with a liquid within, an almost light yellow. "Wood's Glare, I do believe this is will do fair." He offers it to him, smiling. "I shall give it to you as a gift, something to uplift?" He chuckles, "If you are willing to buy it at a price...Five bits would suffice."

"Yes, it's transmutation, but it's unstable transmutation..."
She thought about that for a while, then looked at Saline.
"I'll see if I can dig up anything to stabilise the solution," She said, excitement at a new project building, "After I show you around and all. Deal?"

Five bits seemed a pretty fair price, considering that the polish he usually gets is around twice that. Low Key reaches into his saddlebags and counts out five bits, placing them on the zebra's cart. As he accepts the polish, he asks, "Excuse me, but I don't remember asking your name."

Saline nods to both of them, smiling, "I am Saline Base, and I am equally pleased to meet both of you, as in many-a-case!" He shakes Low's and Sugar's hooves, somewhat...honored to be accepted.

He probably would have shaken Sugar's hoof, had she not in the middle of scribbling some sort of formula on the ground as they spoke. She ignored the hoof, not intentionally, but because she hadn't seen it, and spoke to him instead.
"I'm going to need your formula for this potion," She said absently, "So I can figure out how it works, and thus how to make it more stable. If I need titanium instead of Iron, I want to know for sure that my metals are going to become what I want them to become, not suddenly become, I dunno, lead or bronze, or a lettuce leaf or something equally silly."
She continued with her scribbling, before grunting and wiping it clean, obviously tiring of it.

Saline turns to Sugar, and then looks under his cloak, where...hundreds of recipes are written. All embroidered, with a title atop it, "Most Needed Recipes." Saline then reads out, "...Iron shavings, magic residue, ocean sand...and fish oil." He says, looking incredibly uncomfortable for not rhyming. "Fish Oil is used for every potion, which is why I hate the ocean."
