It was Wednesday. The slowest day for Fancy Prints. Fancy would get smatterings of customers here and there, but nothing that was really distracting. It gave him time to read at the front counter while there was nopony there to interact with. Of course, there was something else he was working on at the moment. It was a book he had been working on. A murder mystery centering around a group who run a city like well organized gangsters. It would be his first serious book ever. Of course he had written short stories here and there, but he was hoping this book would end up being accepted for publishing. It was a dream of his actually.
The book was told from the alternating views of the three surviving members of the crime group. One of them had to be the murderer due to specific circumstances and the other two are trying to stop the murderer from taking them out. The best part is that Fancy was making the narrative in such a way that the reader doesn't know the murderer's identity either. Part of the experience was looking over the clues and dropped hints in the story to find out who is the murderer. Fancy was a big fan of such stories, hence why he was writing it. Right now he was thinking in a party scene where the three were trying to get the murderer to slip up and expose themselves.

Walking along with cart Midnight stopped near a shop she had been wanting to go into. A book store oh she could go in perhaps a read and if she could maybe get a new book to keep her company. As she unhitched from the cart she grabbed her saddle bag and went inside. Pushing the door open she heard a bell chime as she went through. It was mostly dead in there as she could see another pony over at the counter right near the door "Excuse me?" she said to him trying to keep her voice down "I was wondering about something."
She went over to the counter and looked at the pony behind it a blue pegasus male. He seemed a bit busy or at least lost in though about something "I don't mean to intrude but, do you have a magic section of books?"

Fancy had been deep in thought on a certain scene. Slick the more clever of the trio, was making a move. However, he needed a distraction. Something he could cause easily while not drawing any attention to himself. The bell tingling of Midnight entering did not stir him from his thoughts, but Fancy did look up from his notebook when the unicorn addressed him. Fancy smile to her and gave the new customer a nod. "Of course! We have a large section of books on magic, unicorn or otherwise. Let me show you." Fancy closed his notebook and put it under the counter before coming around to lead Midnight. "Unicorns are my biggest customers. A lot love to read almost as much as I do. By the way, my name is Fancy Flights, the owner of this shop."
The blue pegasus stopped at a section of books on shelves and began gesturing to certain areas on the shelf. "I organized them based on subjects. This one closest to use is general unicorn magic, perfect for those learning new spells, brushing up on skills, or needing to review for school. Next to it is general magic. Nothing specific, but you can learn about the force of magic in itself with these. Going down, we have magical creatures, magic in history, and magical theory. The rest is not categorized, but all based on magic. Perhaps I can help you find what you are looking for? What exactly do you need?"

The front door creaked open and Low Key slowly entered. Unlike the days before when he had come in relieved and excited, today there was a certain dejectedness in his stance. His eyes stayed focused on the ground, his feet dragged, and even his mane seemed less organized than it usually did. Even stranger from the other days was that he seemed to have no idea where he wanted to go. He simply picked an aisle and shuffled down it, staring blankly at the books. It was like he wasn't all there, as if something was seriously troubling him. As he passed by the romance section, he looked at it for a few moments before grunting and passing it by for the non-fiction section.

--- Niara was slightly confused as she walked around in the streets. "I knew the bookstore where supposed to be here somewhere..." she said to herself and kept tumbling around for another five minutes before she spotted a sign with the name similar to the one on the note she got from another local when she asked for directions. Walking inn, she had a curious and kind of innocent look on her face like a little filly exploring something for the first time. She was impressed with the amount of books that where here. She wasn't much of a reader, but it had been a while and she needed something to kick up her reading skills with. Walking further inn, she didn't really know where to start or who owned this shop.

Following behind the pegasus she looked at the books along the way. She saw the magic section and stood there looking at them "My name is Midnight Mind or you may call me Sueño Nocturno. I really dont know what I am looking for either. I have read most of these, where I come from the library has a large wing set aside for magic in general." she looked at Fancy and tilted her head a bit "I suppose it wont hurt to look right mister Flight."
Hearing what she needed she began to chuckle "Oh my aren't we forward on what I need." she teased a bit before looking at the books again "No, I just wanted to see what you had maybe I could find a nice hidden treasure among the books if you dont mind me looking that is. I mean I dont even have any bits if I found something could I offer you a tarot reading for the book?"

While browsing through the non-fiction section, Low Key came upon a biography of Beethooven. He knew a bit about him already, but he couldn't say that he was an expert. All he knew was that he was unhappy as could be, and yet wrote the most beautiful music. Perhaps he could take inspiration from that right now.
He picked up the book in his magic and carried it out to the middle of the book store and began reading small passages from it to see if it could hold his attention. It couldn't. In frustration, he closed the book and facehoofed. He had to get out of this funk, but nothing he did could help him. For the first time in his life, he was actually depressed and contemplated why he even bothered getting out of bed this morning.

"Its nice to meet you Midnight. Its nice to meet somepony who reads a lot. I meet a lot of ponies who tend to only read when they have nothing to do. More ponies should read in my opinion." The teasing went completely over Fancy's head. He was oblivious when it came to mares and their flirty ways. He had never actually dated a mare before, so he had zero experience. An innocent soul for this pegasus. At the mention of alternate payment for the books, Fancy's expression looked a little uncomfortable. "I really can't accept a card reading for a book... but I do have extra money another unicorn gave. She said it was for charity, so I guess I can use that to your books. There is fifty bits all together, so you should be able to find a book you like."

--- Niara wandered around, looking for someone to guide her and then she came across a stallion sitting in the reading section. She was hesitant to approach him but let out a sigh before walking up. 'I hope I'm not interrupting him..' she thought to herself. "Exuse me, do you know where I can find a easy read about history?" she asked carefully, hoping he would know. She didn't see his face since he had his hoof over it and where slightly turned away from her. She could see that he didn't look exactly happy.

Low Key glanced up at Niara with a look that showed that he didn't exactly care for conversation. Still, he pointed back behind him as he put his elbow up on the table and rested his head in his hoof. He listlessly played with the book he had been reading before that too lost any amount of fun.

--- NIara looked the way he pointed and walked in that direction. "Thank you" she said as she walked and started looking for books. She used some time to find the book she wanted, but it was on the top shelf. Letting out a sigh, she jumped on her back feet and started stretching up to get the book. Further and further, she almost had it but it was still too high up. "A little.. more" she mumbled to herself and bit her lip, trying to stretch more. And just as she touched the book, she felt her feet loosing balance.

"I couldn't do that, that is for people in need. I am only having a rough patch soon enough the war be over at my kingdom and then I can return." she smiled a bit before looking at the books "I will find something and read a bit." she rubbed the back of her head a bit "I mean you could use the bits for others in more need." she began to move a bit closer to him and looked into his eyes as her copper eyes shined a bit "Though...I will say your eyes hold such innocence and kindness on the surface. Makes me wonder what else lies under them."
Looking away after seeing the surface of his eyes not going any further then that, seeing he didnt give her permission to do so. She thought to herself a bit ~Innocent eyes...like a foal. Filled with wonder, yet I feel there is something beneath them~ she looked at the books on the shelf using her magic to move a few of them "No..no..hmm this...this." she began to get a few books. Sure she read them before but she didn't mind a refresher on them "Yes, I read a lot not just about magic either. Mystery, suspense, horror, you name the genre and I probably read from it." she smiled a bit before moving back a few steps with a stack of books as she looked back at Fancy "Is there a place to read? Or relax?" she had been outside or in her cart for days now be nice to relax on something soft

Low Key finally just gave up and pushed the book to the other side of the table. Unfortunately, it didn't fall off. He sighed and rubbed his temples as he desperately tried to remember exactly what it was like to have fun. Just then, he notices out of the corner of his eye the mare from before trying to reach a book up on high. If she needed help, she probably could have asked him, but who was he kidding he was in no mood to help. However, he began to notice that she was starting to lose her balance. For a moment, he turned back towards the table. Why should he care? He'll probably get some satisfaction in that she'll probably make some loud sound when she does do so. However, he could always just get up and not let that happen, seeing as he is totally right there and that mare could blame him for not take action.
You're a failure.
Oh fuck it.
He jerked up out of his seat and quickly went over to Niara in an attempt to catch her should she fall over.

Fancy blinked a bit in confusion at the moment on his eyes. It was a pretty odd thing to say, at least that is what he thought. But he was firm on helping this mare no matter what. Had was going to put his hoof down. Figuratively. "I insist that you accept the paid for books. Its too little to get enough copies of a new book to justify spending money on and I'd rather let the money go toward somepony who enjoys reading such as you obviously do. I refuse to take no for an answer. Just pick a couple books and enjoy."
At the mention of a place to read, Fancy nodded and began leading her. "Yes, of course. We have a small section with bean bag chairs you can comfortable sit in. I always thought they were much more comfortable than chairs and desks. Easier to get in a comfortable position for sure." At the mention of her interests in the more edgy genres, Fancy's smile grew. "Oh! I'm writing a murder mystery actually! The tale of a group of four ponies who run a metropolis and one of them is murdered in cold blood by one of the other three. If the remaining two don't find out who did it, that murderer will go after them next. I think I am doing good so far. I'm hoping to get it published."

"I will just get a book then..but, will do a bit of light reading till then if that is ok." she looked at Fancy with her head tilted using her magic to keep up the books with little effort "You really are an innocent soul it seems it comes to somethings arent you?" she said before hearing about the bean bag chairs and place to stay "That will do just fine." she followed along Fancy as he lead the way to the chairs. As she got closer and closer she looked at him
"You are trying to publish a murder mystery book? You should get someone to proofread it as well bounce ideas off of for that. So let me see four ponies and one gets the axe." she began to think a bit "The other three have to figure out who did it and it can be any of the three ponies left." she smiled a bit bowing her head "Hope you get it published when it's done I'll get a copy then."
