In the wee hours of the morning, midway and headlong into a forest, Saline sleeps…inside a wooden cart, with the rest of his belongings. He wakes up with a pinecone slapping his cheek, startling him. With a hop, he rises, looking at his…derelict camp consisting of jars of herbs oils, and safety bags of his potion bottles. One such jar reeks of the ocean and it's denizens, another is filled with a brilliant yellow, and so on. He barely manages to flop out before hitting a jar, rolling it to a tree. As he walks over, a...large, brown furred denizen of the forest quickly paws it away. Saline curses under his breath, jars are in such short supply...
Saline gets on his morning commute to the Helping Hooves Hospital, a two mile trail he's memorized out of the forest, and into the city. He woke up especially early to make it in time. With a sigh, he gets to walking.

//In order to have a better incentive, adding more scene.
Saline manages to take a personal scenic route, and passes by the ruins. He stops, eyeing it, before noticing what appears to be…a lived in perch. Trotting over, he feels uneasy, as if he feels…something inside of him warning him about the energy here.

Spirit forgot about something she had set a while ago. A triggered spell that activated when somepony neared her home in the Ruins. Now... she really couldnt' help herself. She had been living out of there for a while, now. But... she really needed to know who could possibly be out there... Someone was touching her shit.
And if there was one rule Spirit had it was: 'don't touch my shit.'
She stood up from the table, threw on her cloak and satchel, and bolted out the door, ignoring any and all ponies that waved or acknowledged her. She had a mission. And that mission was to both harass someone, and destroy those damnable runes, lest she get notified every time a rabbit or fox decides to traverse the ruins.

Saline's inner body is screaming against him as soon as he sets eyes on the runes. He MUST destroy them, his body is beckoning to end its reign. He didn't know why at first, why was it so…evil to him? He thinks, and remembers his foalhood when he was taught one very important rite.
Saline, along with many, many other zebras, have an inner energy, Mantra. Mantra is the spiritual energy that every living thing has, and is seen as the 'good' energy in the world. Saline had forgotten about it for so long, its grown to great amounts. The reason he wants to destroy those runes is because it's linked to a more nefarious energy that counters and opposes Mantra, Gohma. Gohma is the energy that is meant to balance out all magic, along with Gohma. However, if one of either is removed, it becomes more attuned to the energy, which led to 'white' and 'black' magicks. Those who tapped their Mantra was infused with its' natural hatred and opposing to Gohma, and they fight to purify anything that threatens it. In order to aid them in the fight, Mantra can be used to empower the user, making them stronger, and giving them ability to 'shoot out' Mantra at Gohma, effectively overpowering the Gohma via amount.
Saline takes a deep breath, and channels his Mantra, with a swift hoof slam, he shatters the brick that the rune lays on, an almost yellow glow surrounding his hoof, dispelling a 'red' glow from rune, and dissipates like dust.

What the fuck was that? She felt one of her triggers.... go out. Who... who would do that? What did disassembling a rune even accomplish? What.... just... what? Her pace quickened considerably until she was absolutely tearing down the road, into the forest, and out to the ruins.
The unicorn hopped over fallen pillars, through and out windows, etc, etc, until she skidded to a stop in front of Saline. At which point, her mouth dropped open. This zebra... she hadn't seen him in months! What was he doing here, destroying her work?
Just... what was he doing here in general?
Today was filled with too many questions...

Saline doesn't turn his head, he's too focused on destroying the offending runes. With another strike, he smashes apart another rune, and takes a deep breath. He's finished his job, the runes now destroyed, he looks...less lively than when he was destroying runes. Looking over, he notices Spirit, his ears going back, why she was here was beyond him, even farther beyond why she was shocked to see him breaking runes.
Maybe it's just because of a stigma? Zebras are peaceful or something?

It took Spirit a good while to finally speak. Both due to seeing Saline out here, and due to seeing what he was doing. He was just... destroying her runes? What would possess him to do that? From what she had known of him, he was... well... almost spineless! He wouldn't do anything like this!
"W-What are you doing to my hard work? Those took me so long to inscribe!"

Saline blinks, staring at Spirit. Nothing clicked in his head, how could she even know about runes? Why would she care about them, and why did she know about inscribing the evil things? From what he knew about her, she was just…a sultry mare, not much past that. He looks down to the rune, and back to her, "You inscribed these runes, what madness made you discover these, to travel to find this knowledge through the sand dunes?"
