"The voodoo I witnessed wasn't like that." she shuddered a bit as she followed close with Spirit as they went along a new path "I should read more about blood rites but, I think I will pass it for now not enough time." she began to look at her saddle bag and nodded a bit "That I am though, it sorta is bizarre. I0 actually come from a line of them really when I think about it." she began to think a bit "From what my father and my sister told me of our mother..she was a high priestess and a fortune teller. My father was a tarot reader and exorcist bet you and him would of gotten along so well. He probably would've called you an adopted daughter cause you know about runes, glyphs and even the ley lines he could talk for hours with you."
She thought a bit more as they went along "My sister she could scrye and was so good at it." chuckling a bit as she looked at Spirit "In fact I bet you could learn it. It relies a lot on soul really, you see a pony or other creature's soul through their eyes. You see where it has been, where it currently is, and what awaits it. The cards feel it showing it played out in the cards. However you..should know just like with most magic it has it's rules." looking up at the sky she began to think of a few "First and foremost rule to look into a pony's eyes you shouldn't read them, you must ask permission to look into their soul."
Looking at Spirit she smiled brightly at her "It would be an invasion and the repercussions can vary. However if the pony or creature whose eyes you look into shows their emotions it will be visible without repercussions cause they are visibly shown."

Wow. There were a lot more rules to these readings than Spirit originally thought. The rules to her magick were 'don't put too much energy,' and 'learn what makes things explode.' Or... those were the rules that Spirit went by, at least. But... she was never exactly a /huge/ fan of rules imposed by others. Thankfully, the laws and stuff typically coincided with her moral code. After all, she felt like there really shouldn't be a law against murder. After all, it's... a pretty screwed up thing.
Wait! Stop! She was doing it again. Getting lost in her own mind. Forcing herself back into the moment, she smiled, "I think I would have loved to meet your father, as well. I'd love to actually have a formal teacher on this stuff. I mean, I can only do so much from what I've gleaned from here and there around Equestria. And I think I'm starting to hit my limit..."
At that, she fell silent for a while. Maybe she was just a very introspective mare? Unbeknownst to Midnight, that was not true. If she didn't need all her brain power right here, she'd be happily chatting with the other mare. But, she didn't want to get them lost in the woods. After all, the 'path' they were following was hardly even visible. Overgrown with weeds and roots, outside the actual ruins proper. They had ventured into the forest.
Spirit took a few turns here and there, but overall, it only took about ten minutes for the ground to begin clearing up, and stones starting to slowly dot the dirt, before becoming a solid path once again.
Directly ahead of them, was a massive temple. A large stairway lead up to an open air atrium, held up by various pillars, most of which were thankfully intact. To each side of the stairwell at the base, there were twin statues, though they had mostly fallen into disrepair. No discernible faces could be made out, nor could most things about them. (Hell, one of them was missing a head) But, it was clear that they were, indeed, bipedal, and that they once held massive stone weapons.
"I'll be honest, I didn't think I'd be able to find this again."
//I offer no excuse to being late other than I kinda suck.

"Yeah father taught me the rules of tarot reading along with other things." she began to chuckle a bit looking at Spirit "He would of enjoyed talking with you. Gave you pointers and let you find your own path in life. Sadly he isn't with us anymore but, you could ask his spirit if you want." hearing about how Spirit learned on her own and from around different areas in Equestia she nodded some "There are never limits, just hurdles. I would suggest going to Neigh Orleans there you will find a teacher or someone to give you more help. You will see ponies doing all kinds of stuff sure was helpful when I was growing up around people who saw my tarot as an everyday thing not black magic."
When Spirit went silent she followed beside her through the woods and off into the darkness further till finally there stood the temple with two massive statues outside of it. Worn away by the test of time but, as well other outside elements she began to take out her journal writing down a few things. Mostly how the statues were bi-pedal and held massive weapons, a few other details about the temple as she put it away she grinned a bit at Spirit
"Aww and here I thought you were taking me on a tour through a dark and scary forest to be romantic." she teased giggling a bit before she walked over to one of the statues, moving a hoof to it she began to grow silent as she felt energy from them. She stood silent moving a hoof along them before removing it "I cant get a good reading off the statues cause of so many different energies. Shall we continue on?"

Spirit shrugged, "A teacher would be nice, but I honestly don't see myself going out of my way for one. And I don't necessarily want to get to such a big city without a guide. Like, out here, its small. I can handle small. But..." She pursed her lips trying to think up a good way to put her thoughts into words, before settling with, "Nyeh."
Taking the first steps up the stairs, she smiled and shivered with excitement. Sure, she had been here, before, but honestly, she hadn't really looked at much. She had a feeling in her gut that this was not a place to go alone. And that was coming from a mare with literally no self preservational instinct! Clearly, there must have been so egging fun in here! And having a pony that could 'see' spirits would be absolutely fantastic! After all, the Witch wasn't even attuned to other planes, and she could feel an... Aura coming off the place.
Stepping into the temple proper, Spirit scoffed, "Romantic? Please. I don't get cheesy until at least the third date."
Inside the temple, not much could be seen. The sunlight coming from the front soon faded away into shadows, enveloping everything save vague shapes which were assumed to be more statues, given that they lined the walls before fading into blackness. These ones were very similar to the ones outside, except for their size, which let them stand nearly at the size of one and a half ponies. Reptilian eyes stuck out from scaled faces, and each one seemed to have a helmet adorning the top and back of their heads, leaving their faces fully exposed.
"What did I say? Super lizards."

"I could help you around the city seeing it can be overwhelming." she began to follow the other looking around the place as it began to get darker and darker. She looked around trying to get a feel of the place before hearing nothing from the spirits "That's strange spirits have stopped talking. They are around but, I dont hear them." she bonked her nose on something as she grumbled "Damn dark..." her horn began to glow as she look around before yelling out frustrated "Iluminación." sending out a ball of light exploding with light to light up the area they were currently in
"Cheesy till the third date? I didn't even get a flower or dinner this date." she grinned a bit before looking at the statues her eyes widening a bit "Super lizards indeed, hopefully I can get a better feel from these." she began to move a hoof along the statue and felt energy. Moving it along them she saw images enter her head making her remove her hoof from it "These, these were guards." she pointed at the statues before her "Guards for a royal lizard family. I saw that the guards stood here even after the fall of the family." she began to walk along the floor giggling some "This is glorious the stuff inside this place will hold so much ancient knowledge and I am sure the big stone chest have to be coffins." she looked back at spirit "Show me them I wanna see these."

Spirit was starting to get a feel for how exactly this excursion was going to go. And she knew just about exactly how to set it in motion. Which clearly begged to question: was she going to? Granted, if Midnight knew Spirit at all, really, she would already know the answer: hell yes, she was going to. But, as of yet, that was to come.
When the area was brought into light, Spirit smiled, "Did you want something? How about this: we'll find you a necklace or something. Better than a cheesy dinner date, isn't it?"
Spirit made her way to a statue further back. Upon its chest (and the chest if every other statue) was a crystal. Spirit was honestly tempted to take it now, but decided against it. Wouldn't he nearly as much fun, would it? So, she left it, returning to Midnight's side, looking towards the back of the temple. It was quite large, with easily a score or two of statues on either side. Which was absolutely fantastic.
At the very back of the room was a door. Small, just hardly large enough for one of the beings the statues were made of to fit through. Assuming that was actual size, of course. But, still. Above the door was a symbol of a large golden sun, with an eye at the center. Probably a family crest or something.
"Regardless, the sarcophagi are right back there. Shall we go?"

"Oh a necklace? Well I already have one, though I do need a pair of ear rings if. Big spender on the first date eh?" she giggled as she went by the statues "The guards stood in place after the royal family died. Probably to keep out unwanted guests but, it begs the question. Who built the statues here? Did they turn to stone waiting for the family or build them and move on with their lives?" she wrote down a few things in her journal as she looked at Spirit looking at the gems on the statues "Beautiful huh?" she smirked as Spirit came back over to her to show her the area to the coffins "Hmm it's still a bit dark down that way so..."
Her horn began to glow again as she spoke out "Iluminación." as it went down the hall and exploded lighting up the area "Ok then that is where we are going. I want to see if there are symbols on them and open them I bet we are gonna see something interesting there."

"I have my theories about these statues, but I'm gonna keep quiet on them until later," she claimed, heading towards the back, ignoring the stone gazes of the lizards, "But I'll be sure to tell you if I'm right." Of course, Spirit knew she was right. This was just too simple to be able to pass up. But, regardless, that was for her to know at the moment, and Midnight to learn in about.... ten or so minutes.
Shaking her head, she made her way through the back room. Sunlight flittered down from above, casting yet another eye centered sun on the ground and illuminating the room dimly. Not too horribly much was visible. Another zap of Midnight's magic would probably do the trick. But, before she could, Spirit closed her eyes and various sigils of light brightened on the wall, casting the room in a ghostly, blue light.
Coffins lined the sides of the room. Honestly, there wasn't anything else they could have been. Near the back wall, there was one final stone prison centered in front of a final statue, though this one wasn't a lizard.
It was bipedal, again. Its body was covered in armour, and it held the head of a wolf. Clawed hands held onto a sword and shield, emblazoned with the family crest once again.
"Well, if there's earring in that thing, I'll make sure you get them, alright?"

Seeing the blue glyphs light up around the room she stopped her spell and grinned "Oh now we are just trying to out do me." she teased Spirit before starting to walk towards a few of the coffins writing down the symbols and writing on them. "Oh? Well you will need to tell me. It's good to discuss different theories." she began to move towards the back and felt a cold air about her before she shivered. Seeing the last coffin she head nothing from the spirits. She wrote down another few things especially the symbol she saw of the sun. "What...the hell is this?" she began to walk towards the coffin and move a hoof towards it
"You promise that right? What about you what do you want on the second date I was thinking maybe bringing you something like a book or maybe me just in general huh?" she teased before she touched the coffin. Moving her hoof along it she pulled it back touching her head a bit "Um Spirit...would your theory happen to be these guards are guarding something from leaving not entering?"

Spirit didn't completely hate this mare. Which was good. Maybe it was best to give her some forewarning on what was to come. And why the spirits were probably silent, "I don't mind what we do second date. I'll try not to nearly kill you, though. Does that sound better?"
She didn't await anything to come from Midnight before she continued, "Did you know that crystals are fantastic houses for energy? Perfect as batteries for a Golem. Originally, that was what I assumed these statues were. But if your other worldy friends are being quiet, I have some news for you. You're finally gonna get to see some necromancy in action!"
She placed a shoulder to the coffin lid, and began to push with no luck, "S-So, yeah," she grunted, "They a-are keeping something in h-here. Us, after we touch these things."

"Where is the fun in that?" she teased as she began to move around the coffin a bit "Of course I know that I use them to house energy." hearing about golems she chuckled a bit as she looked back at Spirit "Well then if you thought that I dont see a flaw in that." she stopped as she looked around at the statues "Necromancy? Wait then..." she looked at the gems thinking a bit..could it be?
"The gems took the souls in and use them as a power source." she said towards spirit before heading over to the help with the lid "Might as well get this lid off and see what we are dealing with." she pressed against the lid before using her magic to help "This..thing is freaking heavy. They really didnt want it coming back out did they?"

"I don't think it's coming out that was the problem," Spirit claimed, her eyes flicking to the familiar sun sigil, "I think they didn't want a couple of grave robbers to get /in!/" with the last word, she gave another mighty shove, and the slab moved. Slightly.
Yet, even that movement was enough to give her renewed vigor! She kept pushing. Until the slab was half off. At which point, it overbalanced and gravity took over, hitting the ground with a thud that slightly shook the ground under their hooves.
Inside was... Well... A mummy, various pieces of jewelry adorning the outer layer, "Yep. This was probably the family head," spirit panted, leaning her hooves on the side of the sarcophagus, "Chances are if we touch the guy, all those guards of theirs will get angry at us. And do you know who hard it is to fight a giant, living rock?"
"Harder than you would expect. So... Should we just go, or do you want to tempt fate?"

As Spirit helped pushed it she felt it finally fall off before chuckling..panting a bit she looked at Spirit before looking inside "Well it's not like we planned on stealing anything. Just taking it for research really. Though if the damn lid didn't fall off then I was gonna see if one of us could blow it off with magic. Nothing like a little boom to help." looking inside she saw the mummified remains of a lizard and jewelry. Thinking on the question asked she looked back at the statues lining the walls "Hmmm so we can either a. Leave the jewelry in here and head off b. touch them and see the golems come get them or I think c will sound a lot better do tell me. You put up glyphs and I start using my magic to yank the gems from the golems..and when they come to life we blow them up. I mean really what is life without a bit of risk hmm?" she giggled as she leaned against the coffin
"To be honest wouldnt be the first time I got in a tight spot and fought my way out. First time for golems but, hey gotta try my hoof sometime best get first hoof experience now with someone that knows them."

That was probably smarter than what Spirit planned on doing. Granted, her idea revolved around grabbing stuff and running. She should have probably laid a few traps and the like before they came in here. That would have worked wonders, and saved them quite a bit of trouble. But, Spirit didn't operate on that level, "That's... actually really smart. If we remove the gems, the golems have no power source! They won't awaken! And then we can loot - I mean pilfer - I mean permanently borrow anything we want out of here!"
Taking her hooves from the side of the coffin, she pushed off, sending a hoofful of pebbles scattering about inside the case. Chances were neither of them saw this happen, but apparently the Fates hated the duo. On particular chunk of stone impacted a medallion laid across the mummy's chest, depicting the sun-and-eye (which Spirit was starting to grow sick of) though, the pupil on the thing was a small red jewel. Said jewel began to glow, along with a sinister red light coming from the main hall. And the cracking of stone limbs moving after years of being sedentary.
"Oh shit..."

"Yeah well I do try to keep a few steps ahead." she smiled at Spirit as she heard the different words for the same thing "Yeah we are borrowing them. Examined and sent to a museum." she grinned as she stayed leaning on the coffin "We remove the gems heck still set up the traps just in case that way nothing bad happens." Leaning her head back she looked at the wall behind the coffin upside down "Ah the ruins was a good place for me...met somepony that is smart and talented and a new discovery."
Her ears began to twitch hearing a sound as she didnt lean her head up to see. Hearing Spirit say oh shit she just sighed a bit "Spirit how good are you at fighting? I have this weird feeling that something just went wrong with our plan."
